Here's to the New Year!
With the New Year comes your typical New Year's Resolutions... lose weight, quit smoking, start exercising, etc. Most New Year's Resolutions are good for our bodies and our souls but, sometimes they can feel like punishment. Yet they are good for us and a great pleasure at the same time, like knitting! We've just spent the entire Christmas season knitting presents for everyone, mittens for donations, and hats for the kids. Now while these are all great knitting projects that make us feel good, why not resolve to knit something for yourself? Knitting may not be a traditional New Year's Resolution, but it's still good for body and soul.
I'm looking forward to the Mitten of the Month this year, starting with the Bella Mitten. It's all the rage with Twilight fans and an appropriate choice for us in January. It has a long gauntlet to keep the wind and snow out, and beautiful cables down the back of the hand.
Fiber Gatherings have been great fun. Spinning, weaving, crocheting, knitting, and needle felting all together. It's a pleasure to spend an evening watching everyone enjoying their crafts toghether and it's a scheduled time for me to get out my loom and practice. I have a knitter's loom from Ashford, similar to a rigid needle but very portable. You work on it as it leans against the table. It folds up to store away when limited space is an issue. Whether you're comfortable knitting scarves or intricate lace patterns, beginning spinning to advance, join us the first and third Wednesdays from 7-9 p.m. through March. If you haven't already seen our new class schedule, take a look -- then join us for the fun!
So, here's to an interesting year full of functional, snuggly and satisfying Mitten of the Month patterns, Fiber Gatherings, Pajama Parties, Olympic events., and great camraderie. And to New Year's Resolutions, consider knitting something special for yourself!
Happy Knitting,
Kathy
