  • Wool Dryer Ball making from 11 am to 2 pm,
  • Patterns and samples of reusable household items that can be knit or crocheted,
  • Information about the Bag It Duluth campaign to eliminate plastic bags from local grocery stores,
  • The premiere of the Yarn Harbor exclusive colorway "Earth Day" by Three Irish Girls

Community Clean Up Contest

Spring is upon us and while we are all enjoying the recent warm weather, you can't help but notice the litter left behind after the snow melts.  At Yarn Harbor, we want to do our part to help maintain the beauty of our community's outdoor spaces.  We will be collecting litter for disposal on Earth Day.
The customer who brings in the most litter (by weight)* will win a $30 Yarn Harbor gift certificate!
*The winner will be announced at the end of the day, Saturday, April 22.  Winner does not have to be present to win.

Local Resources for Fiber Arts

The Duluth Fiber Handcrafters Guild is a group of fiber artists in Duluth whose mission is to support and promote an understanding and appreciation of the fiber arts, and also to support the development of individual creative potential. They provide opportunities for learning and fellowship through monthly meetings, newsletters, study groups, classes, workshops, demonstrations, and retreats for weaving, spinning, dyeing, knitting, basketry, felting, beading, and other allied crafts. The Northern Lights Affiliate of the MN Knitters Guild meets in Duluth on the third Wednesday of each month from 6 - 8pm at the Portman Community Center (4601 McCulloch St, Duluth). Anyone who knits is welcome. Membership is $30 a year and includes benefits such as a newsletter, a members-only section of the website, free access to the library of fiber books and patterns at the Textile Center in Minneapolis, and most importantly, other knitters to hang with.
